Questions
Section-A
- Q1. (a) What do you understand by AI Tasks ? Discuss the issues in the design of search programs with examples. (b) Consider the following puzzle where one of the squares is empty. The objective is to move to squares around into different positions and having the numbers displayed in the goal state. The empty space cannot move diagonally and can take only one step at a time. Solve using Breadth-first Search : Initial State $$\begin{tabular}{|c|c|c|} \hline 1 & 2 & 3 \\ \hline $-$ & 4 & 6 \\ \hline 7 & 5 & 8 \\ \hline \end{tabular}$$ Goal State $$\begin{tabular}{|c|c|c|} \hline 1 & 2 & 3 \\ \hline 4 & 5 & 6 \\ \hline 7 & 8 & $-$ \\ \hline \end{tabular}$$ [20 marks]
- Q2. (a) What do you understand by monotonic and non-monotonic reasoning ? Describe how truth is maintained in Truth Maintenance System. (b) Specify a global database, rules and a termination condition for a production system to solve the following water jug problem. Given a 4 litre jug and a 3 litre jug. Initially both the jugs are empty. Neither of the jugs has any measuring marker on it. There is a pump that can be used to fill the jugs with water. How can we get exactly 2 litres of water in a 4 litre jug. [20 marks]
- Q3. (a) Two evidencies E1 and E2 indicate the certainty factor that the patient is having tumor. In the presence of evidence E1 (fatigueness, weight loss), Measure of belief that the patient diagnosed with tumor is 0.8 and the Measure of Disbelief of the patient being negative in presence of evidence E2 (fever, headache) is 0.4. Calculate the certainty of the patient detected with tumor. (b) Discuss the production system characteristics with example. [20 marks]
- Q4. (a) State and explain Bayes theorem. Compute the probability that the card is king given that it is a face card using Bayes theorem. (b) Write a short note on Fuzzy logic and its operations. [20 marks]
Section-B
- Q5. (a) Convert the following sentences to predicate calculus form : (i) All Carnivorous have sharp teeth. (ii) Some Christians were either loyal to Hitler or hated him. (iii) Bill like all kinds of food. (iv) Everyone is loyal to someone. (v) Peter eats everything Bob eats. (b) What are the various approaches of knowledge representation ? Discuss in detail. [20 marks]
- Q6. (a) Analyze the crypt-arithmetic problem given below : $$\begin{array}{c} \text{BASE} \\ +\text{BALL} \\ \hline \text{GAMES} \end{array}$$ Assign a digit ranging from 0–9 to each of the letters in such a way that the answer to the problem is correct. If the same letter occurs more than once, it must be assigned the same digit each time. No two different letters may be assigned the same digit. Use constraint satisfaction control strategy to solve it. (b) Differentiate between Procedural and Declarative Knowledge. [20 marks]
- Q7. (a) Solve the MONKEY-BANANA problem using MEANS-END Analysis. (b) How is heuristic better than blind search ? Under what conditions A* Algorithm is said to be admissible ? Also what happens if we take the cost 1 to reach the node from the start node ? [20 marks]
- Q8. Write short notes on : (i) The Frame Problem (ii) Expert Systems. [20 marks]
