(a) What do you understand by monotonic and non-monotonic reasoning ? Describe how truth is maintained in Truth Maintenance System.
(b) Specify a global database, rules and a termination condition for a production system to solve the following water jug problem. Given a 4 litre jug and a 3 litre jug. Initially both the jugs are empty. Neither of the jugs has any measuring marker on it. There is a pump that can be used to fill the jugs with water. How can we get exactly 2 litres of water in a 4 litre jug.
