A block of stone of uniform thickness measures 1 m square in plan and weighs 24 kN. A vertical crane rope is connected to the top of the block at the point P, off the centre as shown in figure 3. The pull in the crane rope is just sufficient to reduce the pressure under the stone to zero at corner E. Find the pull in the rope and the pressure under the other three corners :
